Blender 3d's Hidden features: Tips and Tricks you don't know about.

Some hidden features, tips, and tricks for Blender 3D that you might not know about:

  1. Weighted Normal Modifier: This modifier can help fix shading issues on a mesh that has been smoothed or sub-surfed. Simply add the Weighted Normal modifier to your mesh, adjust the angle value to your liking, and watch as the shading issues disappear.
  2. Proportional Editing with Connected Only: When using Proportional Editing mode, you can limit the effect to only the connected vertices by pressing the O key twice.
  3. Mask Modifier: This modifier allows you to mask out parts of your mesh that you don't want to see or edit. Simply add the Mask modifier to your mesh, and paint on the areas you want to mask using vertex paint mode.
  4. Edge Slide: When in edge select mode, you can slide an edge along its connected edges by pressing the G key twice.
  5. Custom Matcaps: Matcaps are the materials used for viewport shading. You can create your own custom matcaps by adding an image to the Matcap folder located in your Blender installation directory.
  6. Select Similarly: This tool allows you to select all vertices, edges, or faces that are similar to the currently selected one. Simply right-click on the selected element and choose "Select Similar" from the context menu.
  7. Measure Tool: This tool allows you to measure the distance between two points on your mesh. Simply press the N key to bring up the properties panel, and then select the Measure tool.
  8. Grease Pencil: The Grease Pencil tool can be used to draw directly on your 3D model, allowing you to make notes or markups as you work. To access the Grease Pencil tool, go to the Object Data Properties panel and enable the Grease Pencil option.
  9. Camera Depth of Field: You can simulate depth of field in your renders by adjusting the settings of your camera. Simply go to the Camera Object Properties panel and adjust the F-Stop, Focus Distance, and Aperture settings to your liking.
  10. Face Inset: Inset Faces can be used to create interesting shapes and patterns on your mesh. Simply select the faces you want to insert, and then press the I key.
